Inauguration of the Parliament's New Offices

Cotonou Awareness Raising Workshop for Parliamentarians
In its efforts to create a Non-State Actors forum, the Academy
organized a two-day awareness raising workshop on the Cotonou
Agreement and the way it relates to Somaliland. The 44 participants
included MPs, representatives of the House of Elders, government

Opening Ceremony for the New Academy
The Academy for Peace and Development celebrated the opening
ceremony of its new premises on June 26, 2006, coinciding
with Somaliland's Day of Independence. Among the speakers
were the Chairman of the Guurti and the Speakers of the Lower

General Assembly 2006
From June 27-28, the Academy conducted its General Assembly.
Issues discussed included the future mechanism by which new
members would be admitted to the Assembly. The Board of Directors
was re-elected for another two-year term. The next General
Assembly is due in June 2007.

Strategic Planning completed successfully
On June 14, 2006, APD successfully completed its strategic
planning workshop at Ambassador Hotel. The meeting produced
a three-year plan of action both for organisational development
as well as programme objectives.
